Assessments & Counseling
Driving While Imparied (DWI)
Clients who need a DWI assessment, either pre-trial or post-trial, will need to provide a breathalyzer reading and a copy of their citation/ticket. Post-trail clients also need to provide a judgment paper. All of the above times can be obtained from the appropriate County Courthouse.
Clients with out-of-state licenses or out-of-state DWI's may need to provide additional forms or paperwork required by that state at the time of the assessment. These clients are encouraged to contact the State DMV Office for specific instructions.
Clients represented by attorneys or public defenders will need to provide the assessor with the name, address and telephone number of that individual.
Assessment Solutions works with individuals, families and other persons who have concerns about alcohol or other drugs. A general assessment is conducted when the referral source is the client, the court system, an attorney, EAP or any other non-DWI source. For any court-ordered assessment, the client will need to provide a copy of their arrest record which can be obtained from the County Courthouse of the client's residence.
Clients will first speak with our office manager or a clinical counselor to obtain preliminary information and set up a convenient appointment for an assessment. An in-depth, confidential clinical interview with one of our counselors is conducted to determine the need for, and level of, education or treatment services. Included in the process is the administration of a national standardized questionnaire as an adjunct to the assessment process.
The counselor uses several components in the assessment of an individual client. Depending on the need of the individual or NC state requirements, we may employ one or more of the following:
Preliminary Tools - Administered to collect client-disclosed information that will aid in the counselor's assessment of the client's situation.
Drug Screening - Urine screens, when requested or required by a referral source, help determine a client's current needs.
10 Panel Test -
